Final Biddestone A Indoor League fixture before the end of season play offs.

Biddestone A approached there last regular season fixture lying in the top half of the league, a win guaranteeing a top half finish, but a loss depending on other results would still leave us in the top half, with Regular skipper Jamie away H had to take charge, New boy Ashley was welcomed to the team as our regular keeper Tom was also away, with the toss won we fielded and got off to a good start, an early run out and some interesting running meant that Chippenham struggled for runs, H and Rhys having some fairly simple knocking off of the bails, with the Number 6 in early a score of around 50 was all Chippenham looked likely to get, however the Chippenham number 3 had other ideas, despite losing his last partner with a couple of over’s to go he batted through for an excellent 53 not out, Marshy and Rhys the pick of the bowling, a round score of 100 definitely 40 more than they should have got.

H and Rhys opened and struggled from the off against what many feel is one of the best if not the best indoor league bowlers in Lee Ward, some poor shot selection and panic running saw us get a long way behind the rate, With H and Marshy actually contributing over half our final score of 61 for 4 it shows how poorly we batted and also missed Jamie, H carrying his bat for 25 and Marshy 10 no, with Winsley B losing in the game before and Box looking to have scored an awful lot of runs v MYDP we will finish 4th and so go into the top half playoffs were Box, Bradford and Winsley A await, it will be a tough end of season.

Biddestone A Indoor v Winsley B

Sunday 15th Jan saw us restart the Div 1 Indoor season after the Christmas break, with 5 regulars available but upwards of ten players not due to Football or work getting a 6th person proved impossible! Despite several calls and texts, 5 minutes before start time we still only had 5, so the Team Manager had to don his Biddestone shirt once more, batting first Winsley did not got off to a flyer, Marshy and Jamie keeping it tight, a couple of half chances missed might have worried us but it soon became apparent the luck may be with us, a batsmen run out backing up off Marsh’s already bruised forearm and another run out between Tom and H saw Winsley continue to struggle, Liam dropped the easiest of caught and bowled and then immediately caught a harder one! Another run out and then some hard hitting saw Winsley reach only 78, with H and Jamie again batting well we set off in pursuit well, with H about to retire he was caught in the gully area, this then saw us have the usual Biddestone wobble, Jamie retired and then Tom immediately ran himself out which meant Kris joined Liam with still a few required, a couple of dabs and nudges from both left us 4 off the last over to get, a single and then a dot left Kris 3 off 4, a sweep to the corner and Liam make it home saw us win with 3 balls to spare, looks like we will finish top half with one game to go against our old local rivals Chippenham.

Umpiring the following game saw defending Champions Winsley lose to Bradford which has made the whole league interesting.

Charity Golf Day for Springboard Opportunity Group in Chippenham

I am running a Charity Golf Day for the Springboard Opportunity Group in Chippenham; please see the attached leaflet which gives all their details. My reasons for supporting Springboard are through personal involvement, knowing families and staff who are involved in the organisation.

I have negotiated a very good deal at Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, near Calne Wiltshire;

The cost will be £45.00 which will include;

Coffee/Tea and Bacon Roll on arrival from approx 10am and 18 holes of golf followed by a two course dinner.

First tee time is 11.15am

I think you will agree this is a golfer’s bargain as well as a good fundraiser!

The golf will be an Individual Stapleford competition based on your true handicaps! (Please be honest). We will also have things such as Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin. I am also hoping that if we can secure enough prizes that we will be able to have some sort of team competition.

For your application to play please complete attached attendees form available by e mail from kris.boulton@uk.toyota-industries.eu and post with payment to: Kris Boulton 3 Little Challows, Biddestone, Wilts, SN14 7DU before Saturday 17 March. For some indication as to the uptake of this, please drop me an e-mail correspondence to confirm your intentions.

On another note if you or your company are able to support us with some prizes I would be delighted to hear from you. If you are able to do this I will happily promote it at the event and in further correspondence.

Please contact me directly if you can help, my details are below.

If you know of anyone who may be interested in playing please forward this information. Ultimately all that we make on the day will be beneficial to the children and families of Springboard.

I look forward to hearing from you
